Mental Health Awareness
1 in 5 people will be affected by mental illness in their lifetime. May is designated as Mental Health Awareness Month to raise awareness of this growing problem, and to help reduce the stigma associated mental illness.
Alcohol Awareness Month was established in 1987 to help reduce the stigma so often associated with alcoholism by encouraging communities to reach out to the American public with information about alcohol, alcoholism and recovery. The 2019 theme is “Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow” draws attention to the pervasive impact that alcohol has on young people and to highlight that help is available and recovery is a reality.
